Before 'The Method'

I can't wait for Wix to get the feature out so that I can put more than one photo in a blog post. I've been forced to wonder whether I made a mistake hosting here, pretty as it is, because I can't make it the system I want.

Boo.

Anyway, tomorrow I am heading to the great Rossano Ferretti to beg his team to breathe life into my haircut. I'm sure many of you have heard of Ferretti's 'metodo' (that's method to most). For those of you that haven't, the method haircut is Ferretti's trademark. Celebrities from K-Middy to Reese Witherspoon have flocked to Ferretti to ask him to be their fairy godmother. The idea of the method is that each person's haircut suits their features. So don't go to Ferretti with a photo of a celebrity cut you've been coveting. Ferretti's team use scissors designed by Ferretti himself which faciltate a natural cut which you supposedly can't see. The invsible cut is a vertical movement where supposedly three snips are made per second.

One of the beautiful things about the method (in theory, since I've not experienced it first hand yet) is that it is designed to fall as your hair naturally wishes. I wonder what they will make of mine which just naturally likes to fall poker straight and volume-less? I'm really hoping for a bit of oomph without compromising on the silkiness that I'm lucky to have but which often aids the flat look, unfortunately.

Not only is it designed to fall naturally, it's designed to look most gorgeous when it dries naturally too. Now for me this is ideal because I rarely give my hairdryer any work to do. I mean you can call me lazy, and I guess I am, but I just like to be able to wash and go. If Ferretti's method delivers what it promises, I could be one happy bunny. Unfortunately I haven't got the time to top up my balayage on this occasion, but luckily my hairdresser at Headmasters Mayfair did exactly what I wanted and painted it so that it could gently grow out until I could be bothered - sensing a pattern?! No, I really do care about how I look... I promise.

I have a lot of friends who have had foils done. One such friend went into Toni & Guy brunette and came out looking so blonde it was a) unsustainable and b) chipmunk-like.

Bless her, she's utterly gorgeous... but it wasn't the best look. And from then I swore I'd only ever do balayage. Of course before that I actually put my own highlights in with a Garnier Nutrisse Multilights kit... And I tell you what, it worked pretty well most of the time. But after a long overdue breakup I decided to have it done properly. The first time was sloppy work by the hairdresser but I remedied that in February with a trip to Headmasters. Yup, it's been that long and it's low maintenance enough!

So, onward. Tomorrow is Ferretti. Tomorrow is supposedly the greatest haircut of my life.

Watch. This. Space.
